Sometimes, Shortcuts are a Good Idea...by deb cole
I went for a walk with my brother yesterday and we were following a marked trail through the woods in Canterbury Hills, Ancaster Ontario Canada which is also part of the Amalgamated City of Hamilton. We saw a lot of brush, nothing else. We came across a clearing and decided to leave the path to go and investigate. What we found was astonishing. We walked upon a herd of deer grazing in the clearing. They ran, but not far and they continued grazing. They did keep an eye on us though and after a little while, they slowly vanished back into the woods. Taken with the Nikon D60 and Nikkor 55-200mm lens.
Ah, the Whitetail ~ ever the poser. Such a fortunate happenstance for you, Deb. This one was clearly just waiting for you, eh?
I think so, Sheila. There were about 7 or 8 of them, calmly grazing. Never even gave me a second look. I hate to say it, but I think they were “not afraid of people”.
Deb what a beautiful capture this is. She is looking at you for sure. So very alert but not willingly to turn tail and flee. I love this A fave ! :>)) Leslie
Thank you very much, Leslie!! She was a real beauty and you’re right! They must have found something good to munch on and didn’t want to abandon it. They knew that I was “okay”. :o)
What an awesome capture Deb, these whitetails are so beautiful, and this one is obviously alert to the fact you want her to pose for you. Nice image all round. Susan
Thank you so much, Susan! There were 8 or more deer just moseying around. The only problem I had was which one to photograph first!! :o)
