It does have a touch of Barry Lyndon to it. Kubrick used candle light to get the soft style, however, he had a devil of a time to get the depth of field right (using a one off ex-nasa camera and lens helped however!). Great shot nonetheless.

Great lighting David. It certainly seems to have the richness of film. The folds of the sheets add to this as well. Wonderful shot. Is there a grain to this as well? I can’t tell from the preview. Jo looks absolutely gorgeous.

Hi Ross – no I haven’t added grain. Although the mid-tone contrast boost can sometimes produce something similar. This image is actually only toned, there is no local pixel work in Photoshop. A grain effect might be nice, good idea.

It’s a great pose (and I agree Jo does look gorgeous in this – but when doesn’t she?!) and great lighting, just a little bit hot for me. It could be my monitor, but there is that awkward orangy/red burn around her right breast and neck. Maybe just bring the highlights down a tad, or reduce the saturation a bit?

To me, this is sunset after a day spent in bed. The warmth and colour of the light really add to the storytelling. Love it.
