A very young bird molting baby feathers and putting on a grown-up suit looks me in the eye.

Any profits made from the sale of this picture is pledged to the relief of wildlife resulting from the terrible bushfires of 2009 in Australia.

Olympus E500, I don’t remember which lens or settings as I didn’t write them down. Probably
the 70/300.

~ I’m not this depressed, but I love this whole Psalm, especially the mention of the sparrow ~

“*THE BOOK OF PSALMS — PSALM 102 *
A prayer of the afflicted; Zion shall be built up when the Lord appears in his glory. Though heaven and earth perish, the Lord who created them shall endure forever.
A PRAYER OF THE AFFLICTED, WHEN HE IS OVERWHELMED, AND POURETH OUT HIS COMPLAINT BEFORE THE LORD.
1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.
2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.
3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.
4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.
5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.
6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.
7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.

WOW…this is so cool..This sweet thing looks so frightened and holding the wire so tightly..FANTASTIC..INSTANT FAVE ! !

  • Thanks, Kat! Yes, it’s still a baby! It has yellow on the head-side of it’s beak, which is the stretchy stuff that allows them to open their head widely enough to let their parents stuff their head inside the babies’ mouth to ‘direct.deposit’ lovely worms and such inside the chicks’ crop. Birds are totally fascinating.

    Great capture Dayonda.

  • Thank you, Sharon! I have a color pic of this little one, but it just doesn’t show off the bird like this does.

Delicate, and beautiful, Dayonda. I like the scripture.

  • Thanks, David. I do, too. Some of my favorite scripture.
I love the OT because of the wonderful history and the ‘types of Christ’, and for all the ‘begats’ because I feel like I know them now. And then I love the NT because it’s got the birth, works, crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, and many good words to go by. So when I dig in, it’s like digging in to a fantastic, rich knowledge base about my Savior.
