Still life- playing with colors, enjoying the tropical feel of the lemon, water, and fork on the table in the hot, yellow sun. I drew it on a yellow field because I wanted to feel the heat and melt/relax in it; smell the lemon; laugh with my mom about it, and be ready for a drink of cold water on such a hot day.
I can’t do that any more for several reasons, but the main one is that my mom passed away about 6 months ago. It reminds me of my mom because her parents grew 2 lemon trees at their winter home, and because she onced peeled an apple perfectly, balled up a paper napkin, and put the peel around the napkin. Her timing was wrong: It wasn’t funny to me at age 3. Now I’d think it was hilarious. So I drew it in rememberance of my mom, and my desert “home far away”.

Stillness Speaks This speaks to me of intense heat, love, joy, laughter.
I hope you feel some of the same as you look at it. (Sorry if it hurts your eyes)
