His mom took this pic on her little 110 instamatic. We were married in the front room of her little old farmhouse on Mandy Road, which had one wall nearly filled with honey and bees.
We had already known each other for about 30 years, having met when I went to high school with Kelly’s sister.
Sandy and I started Indio High as strangers, shy, and not yet adapted to the Desert. We met outside our first class, Art, our mututal first love, we found out.
Keeping our friendship alive while I went off to uni and she got married and started a family, Sandy’s mom and I corresponded by letter for those 30 years.
Kelly had been just like a snotty-nosed little brother to me (3.5 years younger) all that time, because I didn’t get to see him grow up, become a US Marine, etc..
Desperate for love and kindness, we had been searching for it the wrong way, and of course, not finding it at all.
When he told me he didn’t want to be “my little brother any more”, I had to take about 3 days to re-arrange my thoughts about him. LoL! It’s a good thing I did; neither of us has been as happy and at peace as we are now, together.
We put this up for our friends- whomever you may be.

Kelly’s mom was my second Mama since the day I started high school. She passed away a couple of years ago, and we think of her all the time. We had a great love between us!
