Beneath the arms,
Of the old Oak tree,
The cool caress of shade
Accepts me,
Upon my skin
So damp and hot.
Your shade holds me within.
Shield me,
From this blazing sun
My eyes,
Watered from the glare,
But now protected
Beneath the arms,
Of the old Oak tree,
I am never, rejected.
I lean against your sturdiness
Shade surrounds me
You cool me, at my request,
And I shall stay,
I soundly profess
Until the sun has dipped to rest
Then, and only then, will I leave,
The confines of your coolness
But, I will be back again
When I need your cooling shade,
On this, you can believe.
