This was written and put together by me whilst recovering from my injured shoulder. Hope you like it too.
A new born baby’s first cry, now that really does bring a tear to my eye,
A flower that’s opened its beauty and scent up to the sky,
Butterflies with their wings so fine, oh please do land in this garden of mine,
The colour of dawn’s first light, or Dusk just before it gets night,
Kittens with their little blue eyes, with their unsteady gait on their first adventure,
A child’s wonderment in all that it sees, and learning new things,
After a fall a much needed hug, these are a few of the things I love.
Listening to the waves break upon a beach on a hot summers day,
Fresh cut grass and first rain kissed ground,
The wind blowing softly in the trees, like a long drawn out sigh,
How I love that big blue sky,
Stars in the heaven’s so wondrous to see, so far away but a joy to see,
The buzz of a bee going busily by, collecting some honey for me to try,
These are just a favorite of mine.
A hug from family constricts my heart, if I could sing I would sing like a lark,
Babies first words you’ve waited for so patiently, Oh how dear that really is to me,
First steps of a child takes fills me with pride,
A newly wedded bride showing off her ring, an attentive groom promising her everything,
When crocuses poke up through the snow, a sign of spring you will be glad to know,
New born lambs and the promise spring brings, and renewal of life,
So many wonders for us to see, that really fills me up with glee.
Cotton wool clouds floating gently above, picking out images is a thing I love,
A happy song or a film of true love,
Colours of a rainbow to wish upon, a pot of gold just got to be found,
A child’s laughter, such a happy sound,
A moon so big to hang a dream upon,
This worlds a treasure for all to see,
That’s what is important to me.
A bed time story and the yawn it brings, a little tune a child sings,
A kiss from my grandchildren whilst sat on my knee,
I swallow some tears and hopes no one sees,
A future without them I always fear, they are my life you will always hear,
Knowing that they are visiting, lifts my heart,
I hate it when we are all apart,
This is crucial for the well being of me, nothing’s more important than family.
Christmas morning and the joy it brings, a mountain of presents, oh that’s the best,
A laden table full of favorite things, even the snoring that a full belly brings,
Looking at expectant faces on being given a gift, no time at all for family rifts,
Fairy lights and baubles twinkling away, a sound of a carol all jolly and gay,
A warm cozy bed promising only good dreams,
The smell of the coffee the next morning brings,
Oh boy that really is some of my favorite things.
Morning dew all sparkling bright, or a frosty morning’s all glistening white,
A spider’s web like silver thread, sparkling like crystal,
A full moon’s promise of night time light,
A grand old western to remind me of childhood, oh deary me, forgot poor Robin Hood,
Castles, knights and outstanding hero’s, always triumphs for the good,
The beauty of this world can overcome me,
so many wonders for me to see.
The smell of a rose with petals so fine,
Blue of a bluebell and forget-me-not too,
Buttercup yellows, and reds like wine,
Green of a meadow and rusts of the autumn,
Birds on the wing, not matter what kind,
Colours of a sunset that takes the breath away, oh what a sight at the end of a day,
A phone call from a loved one, who’s got home safe,
All these things are important to me.
Wild open spaces so wild and free, a grace of an equine is like magic to me,
Cats of all kinds, big or small, I just don’t mind, love them all,
Stunning creatures are a pleasure to me,
Makes me sad now to hear their plight,
This world is theirs too and not just for mankind,
I want to protect them all, and want them around,
And who knows there may be many more waiting to be found.
This is important and not just to me.
Fairies and unicorns and all fantasy,
Stories told by young and old, past and present, a good book to hold,
History’s past and a future to be written,
A dog’s pure joy in trying to say hello, a wagging tail showing of its glee,
A great big fluffy pillow to cuddle, when sad, or ill,
So much beauty in this world to see, it can never be enough for me.
The struggles of life can blind our way, too many people don’t greet the day,
The worlds a gift don’t fritter it away, yes there’s pain and sadness too,
Remember the good things and what’s most important to you,
Look on in wonder at this planet of ours,
Don’t treat people as though they are from mars,
Treat each day as if it was new and this world will look after you.
