Forgotton Song
A Baying Wolf, is a sad and haunting sound you dont hear anymore, to me it seems as though they knew long ago it would come to this pass, hence their howling started. A rare sound indeed.
Wolves are an endangered species and have been hunted for centuries and nearly extinct, hopefull through careful conservation these beautiful beasts will be around forever and everyone can hear their special song.

There is talk of reintroducing them to Scotland, along with beavers… I’d like to see the bears back too… and hell, why not the big cats too!
dawndavies in reply to Crespuscular’s comment, 3 months ago
We have a pack by Longleat too, it would be great if we can make room for all, but they have to be fenced in a huge part and wildlife for them to live on, as they have to eat and not attack anyone I suppose, thanks for liking this picture of mine Dawn
Crespuscular, 3 months ago
Well wolves rarely attack humans in the wild… just like sharks there is a lot of myth surrounding them.
Possibly the main problem of re-introducing them is the habitat loss (deforestation) parts of Scotland would be good, but we really need to step up reforestation efforts… also hampered to a degree by overpopulation of deer with o natural predators (like wolves).
dawndavies, 3 months ago
yes I agree, i feel that if they just fenced them in with their food, the trees undergroth everything would right itself, afterall we all need the trees for our air

beautiful image…and your words brought tears to my eyes. So very true….. dawndavies in reply to Wendy Slee KMA’s comment, 3 months ago
Thank you so much for liking this picture and i agree with your sentiments, it just amazes me that htese dangerous but fantastic creatures are not fenced in a huge area with their own food to catch, they cannot tell the difference to a farmers stock and wild food, but we need to keep all safe, human and animals

There was talk of re-introducing them to the Scottish Highlands. I hope they do, I want to hear that haunting howl. Great artwork!
dawndavies in reply to Roddy Atkinson’s comment, 3 months ago
thankyou so much, yes i do hope they do, however I hope that they are sensible about it and fence them in somehow and make sure enough food is provided for them, ten they wont stray as they are a dangerous animal, beautiful but dangerous, in america they let them breed as they were dying out, and did not provide fences or extra food for them, e farmers stock was taken and now they have taken them off the endangered list again until the numbers are so low they will have to go back on it, i worry that will harm their gene pool,i do love the sound of their howl and yes like you wuld like to hear them again, its as though they knew this would happen and hence thier howling started, well thats what i like to beleive, daft old bugger i am lol Dawn

Hauntingly beautiful, and i really like what you’ve written. I hear there are ideas to reintroduce wolves to Scotland along with bears and elk, but sadly i think the public have a warped view of the dangers of wolves and would oppose it strongly.
Your portfolio of work is really wonderful and i’ve enjoyed looking through it very much, cheers and look forward to seeing more :)
dawndavies in reply to felixx’s comment, 2 months ago
thank you so much and yes i do beleive that is correct about them trying to get them back into scotland, but i do hope its fenced off and still alow walker through if they are warned of coarse and enough wild food for them to eat, over in usa they nearly became extinct but the food got scarce and they got farmer stock, and now they are allowed to hunt them until the brink again, i think this is stupid, whos to say they dont need that full gene pool, and they have been taken off the endangered list sill, dawn so glad you like this though and look forward to our next little chat

Oh this one! :O) ♥
When I first saw it I thought – Man! I wish I was a Cub Scout leader again – Scouts use Wolves as their mascot in the Cub Scout section. It’s part of Kippling’s Tale – Mougli being brought up by a pack of wolves Raksha is his mum and Akela the pack leader. All the Cub Leaders take a name from the story [Not Mougli they’re the cubs] Shakaan Kah Baloo Bageera etc … The Cubs are called a pack and they sit in a council circle like wolves and they use the 2 hand salute on top of their heads to symbolise they are wolf cubs [ears] and follow the teachings of Mougli’s adventures pretty closely.
As to fencing wolves & wild life in etc what say we fence US in and leave the rest of the country to them? No wait, that would be too si-fi and somehow frugal style – can see the movies now …. I am Legend is the latest one to spring to mind lol
And your artwork …. Magnificent!
I can see the power of the wolf, the strength of it’s plight and yes hear the haunting sound of it’s cry. we should all take notice and start to realise we are PART of this world not Owners of it!
No wonder it was favourited again! :O) Sensational work all round girl! ♥
♥ !!! B R A V O !!!! ♥
dawndavies in reply to adgray’s comment, about 1 month ago
aw thanks so much and i did not know that the cubs groups used it as a sybal, so thanks for telling me, and yes we need to look at the world differently, we are the grown ups, if we have dangerous creatures, then place them where all can be safe, still have the wild areas for people and creatures can wonder around but a few little guidlines to go with it, then all can prosper. we are taking and not giving back to this planet, but life here is a chain and we are breaking it, so sad, thrilled that you like this picture, its my fav, it the one picture which got me noticed on this site, and i cannot beleive how many comments it has had or its views, dawnxx
