My father was a bit of a jokester and loved to torment his sister by retelling this story evey so often.
When my aunt was younger she asked my father if there was a special trick to making baked beans for they wouldn’t cause excessive gas. My father thought a minute then told her that after soaking the beans until soft and before baking them, you had to dry them on towels and poke a hole in each one.
A few weeks later he came home and found his sister busy in the kitchen. She had towels spread across the kitchen table and they were covered with beans………..and YES, there she was dutifully following her older brothers directions and poking a small hole in each bean. A coulple minutes afterwards my grandmother came in only to burst into hysterical laughter and had to tell her that her brother was having fun at her expense.
Grandma reports that the next thing she saw was my aunt was chasing my father up the street with a broom threating severe bodily harm if she caught him.
Some 40 years late rhe still loved to tell that story and tick her off.
