I just ran into these amazing storm photos in the Sydney Morning Herald website today and had to share a link to my favourite image
The story behind them is also on the SMH site.

Building my ultimate workflow - 3: The Workstation
(Come in part way through? Check out the whole series )
As mentioned in the last piece, I have started with building a new workstation to support my work flow taking into account the issues that I have identified in ‘The Mess”.
Firstly let me say, ‘Hi, I’m Jon and I’m a PC’. I know Macs are synonymous with grap…
Building my ultimate workflow - 2: The mess
(Come in part way through? Check out the whole series )
So before we get into the process of building a new, efficient, work flow and cataloguing system I though it might be helpful to describe the mess in which I currently work, and highlight the issues I am looking to resolve.

Help rebuild a life this Christmas!
I wrote some time ago about a co-worker who is based in my companies Boston office who, in just his early 30s with no warning signs, suffered a major stroke. This has left him fighting to regain even the basic semblance of a normal life. He has gone through several major surgeries, and thankfully has taken steps along the long difficult road to recovery.
As a result of this, the “Steven T …
Building my ultimate workflow - 1: Introduction
One of the greatest challenges I have faced once I transitioned into digital photography, is dealing with the issues of work flow. When I used film it was rather easy, I shot film, someone else did all the work, and I got back images. I catalogued them in albums and if I wanted bigger prints or more copes, I went back to the neg and, once again, it was someone else’s problem to make that into…
Supporting a good cause
Recently a co-worker from our US office suffered a stroke that has left him fighting just to get back to do the normal, everyday things that we take for granted every day.
To help out, any profit I make here form now until the end of October will be going towards helping him out. My boss and fellow RBer started this initiative over on his portfolio...
A Christmas thought
I recently travelled to the city of Boston in the US for work. I didn’t get any decent photos, but I did spend a day walking the Freedom Trail that takes you through the city and past most of the sights. Along the way I came across a holocaust memorial. It may seem to be an odd thing to bring up at Christmas, but the memorial had a number of quotes, and while technically horrible, this photo…
So I've ticked over 5000 views
but what have I learnt?
I’ve learnt it’s hard to get seen in a sea of art when you don’t even know what separates you from the crowd, let alone how to take advantage of it
I’ve learned I really don’t pick up my camera enough. Maybe time to invest in a second, leaner and lighter set-up.
I’ve learned I love portraiture. Trying to capture a person’s personality, or creating an idea with…
Help picking a shot for gallery hanging
It seems like just the blink of an eye but already my camera course has come to an end! It’s been a fun and educational 5 weeks and I’ve really enjoyed getting out and shooting more than usual. As part of the course, the gallery puts on a show using work from students across the various courses. So that means I have to pick a shot to submit, not an easy task!!
These I think are my best s…
Photograhy course and new inspiration
I have seen a few discussions on Red Bubble and other photography forums I frequent about the merits of a doing formal photography training. Particularly for an ametur like myself who just like to make photo’s, there are definitely plenty of voices on both side of the argument.
A few weeks ago I signed up for one of the intermediate courses with the Australia Centre for Photography...
