One of a series of images experimenting with overlapping shapes.
Originally drawn by hand with pencil on paper, whilst riding the train.
I then scanned the sketch and placed it in Adobe Illustrator as a guide and replicated the shapes and then coloured them.
I’m interested in optical art, negative/positive space, patterns, repetition and related ideas.

Glad you like it. I love abstract art myself but not sure what other people feel about it.
Yeah it kinda looks like an overhead of freeways.
I basically drew the four main curved shapes and then drew an inset for each shape to slightly space the shapes so they weren’t touching. Then erased the intersection points.
I like using similar colours together eg. olive, for some reason…

The series is great, but I like this one the best. The shade of green goes well with the way the lines flow through the composition.

Thanks Patricia. I’ll have to some more. I have many sketches of similar style.

Yes sunchaser. I really like drawing these curvy lines and I wanted to have a flowing kind of feel with the narrow at the top and getting wider at the bottom.
