And people call ME cynical? LOL! Since every word of this crap is historically accurate, it’s likely to be the case for this President too. You can ‘go your own way’ only as far as the system will allow a president to go and ‘the system’ is usually very quiet but very BIG MONEY.
The part I don’t understand is how political insiders don’t know this BEFORE they take this office. Are they all little T. Roosevelts, hoping to get some of the cash while posing as a figurehead? Are they Clinton clones who believe their power is all that matters? Or are they Gerald Fords: designed to be as benign as possible long enough for everybody to forget what happened before them?
I still believe Obama is working hard for the good of the American people. But he’s also a child of the most screwed up part of our system, in my opinion: Congress. I think he thought he knew enough about the inner deals in there that he could finesse some positive actions. I think he badly underestimated the power of mob mentality and is falling prey to lynch mobs (forgive the analogy but it’s the best one) created by legislators using their on constituencies.
I’d have questioned your seemingly personal bitterness if not for your tags, and I really appreciate them. I hope Obama gets the opportunity to make the proper changes as President but it’s far too soon to tell now that the honeymoon period is definitely kicked to the curb. He’s got two more realistic chances: that period between in the end of the first term & the middle of the second term (if it happens), and; the Executive Orders at the end of the second term. Until then, he’s going to be a victim of the Congress he thought he knew as friends/co-workers and the BIG MONEY that actually calls the shots as the silent 5th Estate.
Barack Obama was “granted” the pleasure of being the first minority to lead the country. He wasn’t granted any magic wand to get anything past Congress and yes, he will be crucified/lynched by the Powers That Be unless he follows orders. It bits that this is true but there’s no denying it.
I can’t wear the shirt tho: I’m still hopelessly optimistic about our government after 50+ years and 11 Presidents. {Optimism is greatly enhanced political blindness). See, I even gave you another t-shirt design! LOL!
