Giza Plateau is situated on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. This complex of ancient monuments includes the three pyramids known as the Great Pyramids, along with the massive sculpture known as the Great Sphinx. It is located some 9 km (5 mi) inland into the desert from the old town of Giza on the Nile, some 25 km (15 mi) southwest of Cairo city centre. One of the iconic monuments, the Great Pyramid of Giza, is the only remaining monument of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Text courtesy of Wikipedia

Awesome piece! Does seem unreal…great capture!
The day I took this, back in July 1977, was hot even for Cairo, hence the heat haze you can see over the plateau.
Many thanks for your comments Susan.

.. Interesting shot David… The old and the new ……………..
I’ve got shots taken closer but the stark contrast of this view somehow caught my eye.
Thank you Richard.
