In 2009 my wife and I attended the wedding of the son of some lifelong friends, Ann and Richard, in fact I was best man at their wedding over forty years ago. Ann was asked by the bride and groom to make the wedding cake but it had to be decorated with real flowers.
Come the morning of the wedding everything was a hive of activity as you might imagine. However, unfortunately there were one or two little hitches that meant that Ann and Richard were diverted from the task of decorating the cake. So having completed the first tier I was asked to step in and take over the next tier. Upon their return we worked together to set out the cake together with over 120 cupcakes. I think the result was pretty impressive.

Talk about labour of love. Worth it though to see the look on their faces.
Really did take some time as each and every flower had to be cut to length and gently pushed in to a block of moistened oasis.
BTW the wedding was in St. Kew, Cornwall
