Composition Details
This is an image I created for a competition for which I was lucky enough to win first place.
The start point was a rather drab looking windmill behind white brick building in front of a hill with a cluster of radio and satellite masts on top.
The field was a stock image #1159410_65951386 from stock.xchng fairly heavily modified with a replacement sky from my own stock. Colour and texture overlays were added to create the final image.

This is a beautiful image David, I’m not surprised it won first place! I especially like the flowers in the foreground, they add a subtle beauty and were the first things that caught my eye :o)

fabulous work, david! read your bio – as a beginner, am soooooo envious of your years of experience and your expertise! i began a couple of years ago, using an Olympus C-60 (nice sensor for extreme closeups), & have since purchased a Nikon D40X. truly wish i’d have waited a bit. might have chosen something different. ahh, but onward & upward – its a heck of a climb lolol!

I’ve only just started to get into photoshop so I’m a real novice and have a huge amount to learn. Photography, by it’s very nature is a perpetual learning experience. No one have ever produced the perfect photograph because there is no such thing. There are your favorites, my favorites and those that appeal to the many, but maybe not everyone.
