Yes I think that is part of the plan. I think that we are shown the horid things so that we can learn to cherish and treasure what we have! I have seen alot of aweful stuff in my short 30 years! Maybe one day I will share some of my old writings about the crazy I used to live! Maybe one day! Everything in life is done for a reason and we may not know what that reason is but one day it will click I am sure of it!!!

The poem is very moving – and I agree that sometimes we see so much suffering that we almost become de-sensitised to it all. I believe that the gap between the “haves” and the “have nots” is forever widening and this is so sad. I don’t know what the answer is though. Do you?

In my opinion, it’s your best piece of writing. This writing comes from your heart and soul, I think. Emotive, moving and powerful- makes my heart hurt really bad for those precious little ones. I have also seen the neglect and horror..and wonder what I can do to make a difference. There are no easy answers..community involvement, praying for them and giving what we can and where we can. Sometimes reporting the obvious abuse is one thing we can do, if we have the courage to become involved.

Thanks a lot and I believe we can reeducate our children to understand community service that will make a big impact on their young lives to see what a life of drugs can do.

I think that is my favourite poem of yours David. Beautiful and honest in it’s approach. It forces the reader to see again what we all have pushed aside.

Just to add to this story, my husband was one of those children once upon a time. His mother died of overdose when he was two. His father was in jail. Mike had his arm broken already from being thrown against a wall. When the government took him and his sister (who was 6) away, Mike was lucky enough to be given Foster Care by a loving family. They ended up making him part of their family and he calls them Mum, Dad, brother and sister now. His own blood sister was not so lucky. She also went into Foster Care but because she was a little older, no one decent wanted to look after her. She was sexually abused by her “carer” and as she got older she was abused again by yet another. She ended up on drugs and had four children to four different fathers – all who are now in government “care”. We haven’t heard from her for 5 years now. So, the cycle continues.
If you have the means, please just consider Foster Care for a child. Break the cycle like it was broken for my husband. Sorry David, getting carried away. You brought up a lot of emotion with that one :o)

A beautiful flower and equally wonderful words, there is so much going on in our world today it is so hard to know where to start first, doing this is a great way of bringing some attention to the issue David,sometimes small steps can make a big difference x

Most welcome…we used to have National Service, but that ceased after the Vietnam War, it was where those that had their number drawn had to do two years service in the military, pity they stopped it, give people a bit of disipline

To true…. years ago family, friends,police pretty much any-one could give you a revving,now it’s called assault if they do.If you as an elder can take on the role to guide the young ones,it will help.The family unit has been shattered so outsiders need to step up to the plate.Many people forget children are not a possession,they are assets to our future, if they are guided correctly.

beautiful poem ( and photograph) I can totally relate to your feelings; we can only do what we are capable of doing, and by doing so inspire others to do the same. If we would all decide this very second to ‘love our neighbors’ no matter who it is or what they do we would have peace in the blink of an eye! if 10% of the worlds population owed 90% of the wealth, and 90% of the worlds population has to survive on the 10% left something is totally f*cked up (pardonnay moi francais ;)).........we need change and we need it fast!
