Why
This is not a flower from my show and poems for her.
This poem came up today as I was listening to the news about someone beating his wife.
Seems to be common in some country’s of the world to beat your wife.
It had me really angry and after the anger I thought about that man and what he might feel later in his sad life after years have passed as he sat in front of his TV alone.
I sit here in my favorite chair the late late show is on.
Someone is talking about something as if I really care.
I sit here every night alone wishing I was dead.
But Gods making my days real long I guess he’s really mad.
I sit and see where you once sat your chair is empty now.
I see the knitting that you made in your happy days.
I see the kitchen table from where I sit, your plate sits in its place.
The only thing missing in this show is you my loving wife.
I sit here every night alone afraid to call you up.
Its been five years since you walked out our house.
Not one word have I heard from you since that dreadful day.
I wonder if you’ll ever let the past lie down and die.
I did them things to hurt you hon I know it was my fault.
And as I look down at the floor tears begin to fall.
What was it that I said to you so mean it knocked you down.
I had a drink I know its wrong and that was no excuse.
I took the one thing that you loved your photo of your mom.
And then I ripped it apart and threw it in your face.
I drink, I lie, I do the things that I said I’d stop.
I go to church and ask the lord to help me see the light.
But no I walk right out that church and soon as we get home…
If dinners not the way I want then I start a fight.
I know I said I’d get it right, but hon I just don’t know!
I think I am just too bitter at the way my life has gone
Its not your fault you did it right you stood tall by my side.
When your friend’s said take a walk and leave me to my own.
You took it all and smiled at them and told them they would see.
And then I did just what they said.. Oh hon I feel so bad.
And then the one that loved me most I turned on her too.
I sit and wait until he comes and takes me by the hand.
I hope that he will forgive me hon for all that I have done.
I know I don’t deserve his love for I have been so bad.
So here I sit and wait for him as tear drops slowly fall.

Yool
Good for him…the wifebeater!!!! Now i hate him to…....
You are a sweety to care and the picture is again a perfect match to the poem ….so sad!!!!!!!!
David Roman replied
Oh Yool that’s sweet that you came! Sad party here but I love the flower.
David Roman
I see I will have to make the first comment on this poem!
Well Dave its a really sad poem but so true.
Many men struggle with violence every day and its time we take responsibility and say enough!
Thank you for taking time to bring this topic up and out in the open! Its a topic we try to avoid but its something that everyone of us has heard about or has a family member who’s been effected by this type of violence in their life at some time,or knows someone who has been directly affected by this.
Romo
A beautiful flower and a very well written poem, and a sad fact of life that happens way to often and causes so much spiritual damage to all family members involved in domestic violence… As I said before David, you are full of surpises…Bravo for you for speaking out on this subject:)
David Roman replied
Thank you my friend Yes this is a big problem and its moving when faced with this in your life! I always say thank God I am not that type of man! But I know them and have tried to help.
But somewhere somethings missing in their lives that forces them to be that way.
God bless them maybe this poem will at least reach some of them and maybe they will think!
But thats a big maybe.
Kate Adams
He is a sad,sad little man!!... The perfect picture for the poem David, such a sad subject.
David Roman replied
Well maybe he’s finally sees the light?
I always hope for a lighting bolt to maybe wake these people up or put them out of their misery.
Agnes McGuinness
This is very strong stuff. Great writing, and the flower is very beautiful. Agnes:))
David Roman replied
Thanks Agnes glad you like this!

It is easy to say that this man was wrong and bad. It is awful what he did, of course! But removing his wife or even if he had been put in jail will NOT change the behavior. There is so much that we do not know or understand about the human mind. We cannot point fingers and shut our eyes. There must be a reason that this man is prone to this behavior. No one will disagree that a man beating his wife is wrong but there is much controversy about how to stop the behavior. This man needs to relearn a pattern which may be how he deals with the angry issues that causes him to “fly off the handle”. He is sick and needs help. Removing his wife from the situation did not teach him anything except maybe to be MORE forceful next time. It is very sad indeed.
The flower is closed up tight, no emotion can get in. I do believe that is how it is for people like this. They do not understand their own behavior and if they could, most would change it. I applaud you David for not skirting the tough issues. :)
David Roman
Made me nervous at first I thought you were gonna hit me!LOL
Hey Judi hes sitting there alone for 5 years alone! I think he might be seeing the light thats why hes not calling.
Maybe I make a poem where hes going the get help!
Its been 2 years since she left I decided to get some help.
This anger that I have for women came directly from my dad!
Hows that?
Most of these guys are too blind to their problems so they will just continue until a lighting bolt wakes them up and what’s the chance of getting hit by lighting?
Well there you go.
Judi Taylor
Sorry, I got on my soap box … I am chilling now with a cool orange tea !! Just shining up the mustang ….
David Roman replied
Glad to see you calmed down ! But its a subject that needs to be talked about loudly.
Sending out alarms to young men and boys that this isn’t what a man is about!
Thanks Judi my friend.
Kasey Cline
Love the picture Mr D! The poem is great as well. Sometimes I wonder where you get this stuff. Its great work. Touches a cord for alot of people and good for you to put it out there.
David Roman replied
Sits in the back of my mind waiting to be released or better yet to be freed. We live lives and some of us see and remember too much and are touched by others journeys too. Thats me riding many boats.
Thanks Miss K I think as you get older you will have a big storage of events to call for your art thats just part of life. Glad you like my work my friend thats great.
Janis Zroback

Beautiful picture dear and great poem , damn it you brought tears to my eyes ! Maybe it hits a little close to home for me and what my life has been like at times .
Thankyou for sharing it … its fabulous
Bright Blessings xoxox :0)
David Roman replied
Thank you Butterfly I am sorry that I have to even say a poem like this but it is part of the human struggle! Violence and hate things I think we are taught and can be untaught but things we have to stand up and say no to!
Thanks for sharing your hurt with us and I wish you well and that you heal with the right person supporting you with love!
HippyDi
Amazing poem David that makes me realise how lucky I am…..I suppose we can take our partners for granted and then something like this comes along which makes you think…
I have a dear friend who went through an abusive marriage, she was lucky and got out. Now the beatings have stopped but the abuse continues in different ways. So dispite your characters remorse the sad truth is that he wouldn’t change anyway!
The photo makes me think of a big purple bruise…not only on the body but on the spirit!
David Roman replied
Well I always have the opinion that if a person is willing then he can make a change. Its work but there is always hope.
We are complex and it takes deep thought to reach some of our problems! With a helping hand and the need then all is possible.
But I never want to close the door to hope.
But my friend I am glad to see you again thanks for your comments and I do know how you feel.
Cindy RN
Oh my goodness, David, how beautiful is your flower, and a powerful and well written poem :)
David Roman replied
Thank you Harriet it just came the flower was shot yesterday down the street from me. As you can see they are still blooming here in Germany must be saying summers gonna be a little longer so enjoy.
Glad you like my work thats really nice.
inge
beautifull flower, very good poem, a sad story, unfortunately we hear this to much where we live here in The Kimberleys, its a massive problem and soo sad! well done Dave, i hope it will reach ‘someone’..
David Roman replied
Thanks Inge I hope a few hear this and wake up before they lose all that they say they love. Lets pray one sees this.
karen Bradshaw
What a beautiful flower, i agree with hippydi that it does look like a bruise, i see this every day at work and im the one usually sewing the pieces back together again, wish i could do the same with the spirit but through my own personal experiences im afraid that that is almost impossible once the spirit is broken it takes more than a life time to heal it….. well done my friend xx
David Roman replied
Hey My friend thanks for your comments and sharing your comments with us. Yes this is a deep problem and even when the problem is out of our lives the scars last a life time. Lets pray for hope and insight for the ones that need help.
See ya later and thanks a lot for your support.

In my line of work I came across dail y many reasons why he beat his wife but none would be any excuse for it . It’s a way of life that to the abuser it is in their mind normal . Beat up one , they leave and he gets another and so it goes on …a sad violent , troubled cycle.. your flower is alovely colour and very pretty David Janex
David Roman replied
Sad but true and one day this will be a major crime for those that take this lightly. But across the globe so it sets the rule on behavior towards women.
Thanks Janeymac
ajax
Beautiful work David
David Roman replied
Thank you ajax thats really great glad you like it!
janeymac
I agree with you David , Iam not taking this lightly , I saw many ruined lives through my work. And it saddens me deeply . Your poem sheds light on a topic many do not want to discuss.
women suffer awful torture . thank you David Jane
David Roman replied
Thank you Jane maybe we will see the day when teaching our your men that this is as ugly as anything they will do in life. Has to start at home and even in my opinion in the schools as a course.
Thanks again my friend.
~ Butterfly ~
So true … fear , anger , violence .. there all taught and learnt behaviours , but people can better themselves if they wish too and some do , some keep going around and around until they finally get the lesson put before them .
As for me …. i dont believe anything i have experienced in my life has been in vain , simply because ive come away from each situation having learnt something , and that has many years later enabled me to be of some help to others in some way .
Im 36 yrs old and a single mum to 6 beautiful boys , i am so truly blessed in every way and thankful for everything i have encountered in my life good or bad , because one way or other it has made me a stronger person …. life is a fabulous gift and i couldnt ask for more !
Keep up the brilliant work David its always wonderful and a true pleasure to be able to share .
xoxox :0)
David Roman replied
Thank you Butterfly I think life is about learning and using that experience to open our eyes so we avoid these problems and others to beable to read events that are negative and guide our young in a healthy direction.
Thank you see you soon..
janeymac
Wouldn’t that be awesome. Often they come from abusive homes and don’t know how to treat someone with care and respect. I know of one young man , who is only 19 , and as a child his father bullied him , now this kid is a bully. when I looked further into it , all the male line were , bullied so the kid thinks that is acceptable.
I am helping him now. He has so much potential. I won’t let him down.
David Roman replied
Its a long process and its got to be an open topic in the communitys so it can be stopped out of our young men.
Who are their roll models?
Well its a long story Janey and I know I will have all kinds of thoughts about this subject and still sit back and read and hear about these stupid actions.
Well lets just pray for help.
See ya
janeymac
Yes, role models…...fathers you would hope, but if they are abusive to their wives …the children are taught abuse is ok. so we have to go further afield , schools, the community like you say.
different cultural beliefs is a factor as well. The community doesn’t look after each other the way t used to when I was a kid. The community was like family . You are right David , we can’t sit back . Jane x
Nira Dabush
Most FANTASTIC photo David..
Great writing… emotional…
I wish violence never be no where …
I wish there was a real way to prevent it from occurs.
A difficult subject.
David Roman replied
Yes it is but when we teach our children to love with out the fear of someone’s color, religion or nationality then we might be close to hope.
I think we can when I see the honesty of children playing together from all colors and nationalitys without a problem until the adults step in filling their heads with hate. When this is stopped we will be able to have a better world and then maybe hope.
Anyway thank you for the fav my friend.
eXposure
such a beautiful capture does not deserve words of sorrow.
i have experienced beating from a boyfriend, and thankfully left that scene
well written David
David Roman replied
Beauty is often just at the surface of tremendous suffering. As you see the flower is closed up! Now whats inside is the question and so comes the poem.
Glad you had the strength to get away and learn from that hurtful situation.
Thanks for your kind words eX I know this is a big problem but I hope maybe somewhere in the world a man see this and maybe gets it!
Kim Bender
Fantastic work!!!1

David Roman replied
Wow thats a cool card my friend thanks a lot!
And thanks for your kind words too!
handprintz
A sad topic but one that needs to be addressed, well done David as always very thoughtfully written x
David Roman replied
Rooo girl did I miss your post? Gee I am sorry! Thanks a lot for your comments and it is a sad reality in the short comings of people. Maybe one day this will be but a memory of what was.
Jane Keats
Instant fave of an image David, and an issue well addressed!
David Roman replied
Yes its lonely when we have been idiots in life and the door is closed to the one you love most because of our stupidity.
I can’t think of anything so lonely other than losing a child.
But hopefully this poem reaches someone before they do something that loses them their love.
Thanks Spy girl for the Fav and reading my poem too!
Jane Keats
I hope so too, we all make our own choices in the end.

Great writing again David- and a stunning flower- beautiful!!!
David Roman replied
Hey there Ms NL thanks for the complements you little sweetie.
Aritheeagle
Great image and thanks for posting this. There are many of us who may have been a victim to this social scourge …... older than history itself.
Some facts:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,926135,00.html
David Roman replied
Yes its a sad social comment on humans and their weaknesses to control their egos! Need more education to our younger generation to help educate and look for these unwanted traits.
LindaMcCarthy
Your writing makes me sad and sick at heart for the couples involved in such abusive behavior, especially the recipient of the behavior. I know it needs to stop..and as repentant as the abuser may be, he/she needs help, and the victim needs a safe haven. I’m so fortunate to be married to a man of integrity who is gentle and kind to me, even when I act badly.
Wonderful focus, David, and the flower is beautiful.
David Roman
Your right in your views and feelings Linda we need to stand up an say stop this an my small poems is one way to help I hope maybe someone will read this an will get it! Glad it moved you my friend and I am also glad you have someone who allows you to be you!
See ya
karenanderson
extraordinary ! .. such wonderous details, and the colour ! wow ! .... I am supposed to be proofing a clients shoot from today .. and yet I feel compelled to go through and read all of your poems ! : )
David Roman replied
Your very good for my ego I need it my friend. Writing is so lonely and opens up a lot of pain! I never understood the deepness of that when I heard other writers say they had to stop because it brought up so many past hurts.
An now as I write and pour more of my soul into some pieces that are very personal I find that I have a lot of emotions come up from the pain of my life.
So to hear from someone that they like what I do is moving!
So when I say thank you I really mean that from the bottom of my heart! You make me reach for more from me! And thank you!
Ingz
Exellent work, beautiful picture and very powerful writing.
David Roman replied
Thank you Ingz I think I get better as time gos on and I am able to open up and cut to the chase with my thoughts to paper. Thanks for your kind support you make me smile.
Aritheeagle
I like the submission !
There is always a price attached to life and its experiences. We learn that through reflection ….. by facing our respective guilts . BIG or small ….... accepting our faults and moving on as better people… better human beings!
WEll done….

David Roman replied
Thank you Ari thats sweet!
Jenni77
beautiful flower and a beautifully written, sad poem.
It really got me thinking :)
David Roman replied
Yea its a sad poem but real life for some people thats the sad point. But its a moving poem .
Glad it got you thinking I have gotten so many BM’s because of this poem moving people to tears! It moved me that way too when I wrote it I had to stop a few times it was so real.
Not a true story in my life but I know this story too well!
Thanks J77 good to see ya.
merlin67
Your insight into peoples lives is amazing. Why do some men do it? Anger? fear? Insecurity in their own lives? I’m not sure that these sort of men ever really regret what they have done. But your poem is very moving.
David Roman
Well some do and to them I say congrats to you on your daily struggle.
And to the struggling I say keep trying you will find the path one day.
And to the lost I say there is a path!
And to the ones who don’t believe I say there is hope! I say look inside yourself for the strength to give a hand!
And maybe we can find away to show other men who are loss how to find away.
Thats what I think my friend never give up!
merlin67
Indeed – never give up. But some men will never find the strength and therefore never feel the remorse as expressed in your poem.
Your flower mirrors the poem so well. It is closed, keeping its secrets inside, Brilliant!
David Roman replied
Thank you Merlin67 thats very nice ! Did you read forgotten woman thats a cool poem too!
Brendan Schoon
WOW, so much detail and the colors are so good!! Wonderful composition!! Very well done.
Brendan
David Roman replied
Thank you Brendan thats a special flower isn’t it? the colors are really coming together to create a wonderful mood for a sad poem! But as you see its closed up with the possibility’s of blooming if care is taken so thats what I feel when I look at the an wrote the poem!
Thanks for coming to visit !
