Waiting

David Roman

Waiting

This was the other photograph from my day at the Zoo.

I see the sun rise in the distance as I wait for you my love.
You promised me your swift arrival filled with love for me.
I wait as told for your arrival in your favorite place.
But here I sit and you’ve not come its been forever and a day.
This is the place where we first kissed it seemed like yesterday.
The years have passed too fast as they always do.
I sit and wait for you to come to comfort me this day.
But like the days before this one your presence is not felt.
I sit and wait for you to come have you forgotten me?
We talked about this special place that meant so much to us.
It was here that I first stole a kiss and caused your face to blush.
And here was where we made our plans if we might wed.
And it’s here that I gave you a ring to say you were my love.
And here it was that you told me you would have my son.
I wait for you before the sun each and every morning.
Its bright rays sing your name as I wait for you.
But no where in the distant do I see your smile.
Have you forgotten me my love I wait for you to come?
You passed so many years ago did you forget your promise?
I’ll wait for you forever more I’ve not forgotten you.
And with the passing of my soul I’ll wait and wait for you.
Until the sun comes no more I’ll sit and wait for you.

Too many folks here on RB who do it so wonderfully that I keep to my flowers.
Glad you like it my friend and the poem too thats great! I hope someone is waiting for me on that day.

  • Romo

    Romo

  • David Roman replied

Hello Ms Romo hows my friend doing today?
Good to see you and good to see your nice comments and I am glad you like the poem too!

  • David Roman replied

I tell you Romo that tree was so soft it was crazy ! Like a sponge and I put my arms around it and said this is too crazy like its alive and warm the bark just moved with my body !

  • Alf Caruana

    Alf Caruana

a fairytale pic, love the coloring David and the poem adds so much more to it

  • David Roman replied

    Agnes McGuinness

This is gorgeous!! That is one magnificent tree. And the poem. I’m not joking, I need a hanky i’ts so sad. Agnes:))

  • David Roman replied

My mother told me she would be waiting for me before she died so I thought about that the day I was at this place in the zoo and wrote this poem this evening as I thought about posting this photograph.
I hope where ever she is she’s not waiting I’ll catch up!LOL

  • David Roman replied

Oh Agnes I forgot to say thank you for your kind comment thats quite nice to know that you were moved by this so was I as I thought about loving someone and maybe seeing them again. Well if not then always having them inside and living with their love as a reminder that they were special to me.
Living and loving is a wonderful thing but it also brings such deep sorrow. Sometimes its just good to honor the people you love with a tear and a poem!

  • Kate Adams

    Kate Adams

Very impressive David!!... I like all of it!!!!!! lovely work..

  • David Roman replied

Thank you Kate thats really nice! Good to see ya.

  • Agnes McGuinness

    Agnes McGuinness

I’m not a big softy, but I think there’s more than that tree needs a big hug:))

  • David Roman replied

Nights in a foreign land can lead to nights of deep thoughts and longing for truly loving and caring friends that only come with long relationships.
Like the word foreign thats what you are to many people when your not native to their country.
But I like to feel me and this is a part of me too besides the other things. So for my book “Flowers and poems for her” I want to convey all that I am and thats layed out here on RB for the world to see.
An 4 you too my friend!
I’ll take that hug too!LOL Thanks for giving!

  • Romo

    Romo

That tree is so beautiful, the trunk is almost unreal looking, I would have hugged the tree myself….it sounds like that tree hugged you back(smile):)

  • David Roman replied

I still feel its softness! I think once you have felt this tree or one like it you will always remember it.

  • Agnes McGuinness

    Agnes McGuinness

Yes, so true. In the past few years I have lost five people from my close family. I’m not being sentimental. They were very old or sick and it was good for them But I deeply feel that I will see them again. There, now, my street cred’s ruined!!

  • Agnes McGuinness

    Agnes McGuinness

Your welcome. Have two. I must go and get some sleep. Two late nights in a row makes me talk too much. LOL God bless, Agnes:))

  • David Roman replied

Sleep good its late here too 1:30am so maybe I do the same! See ya

  • Judi Taylor

    Judi Taylor

Looks like a special place to me!!! Were the trees really that red? And the young man who waits for his love … perhaps she is waiting for him too but in another plac. And because it was dark and they both thought they remembered the exact place to go, they are actually waiting in different places. Ah … love will conquer in the end and they will “bump” into each other in another place when they least expect it. THAT is what I see … :)
How are David, taking good care of the Mustang?

  • David Roman replied

Judy the person in the poem she is no longer with us so hes waiting for his demise too! And if he never sees her he will wait until the end of time when the sun shines no more.
Mustangs out with your friend !

  • David Roman

    David Roman

Oh and the tree was really that color and the area was really that green it was really amazing to see! Their called Redwoods we have them in California.
    Haven’t you seen them too?
And they are flakey and soft to the touch!
Quite a wonderful experience when you think about a tree being so soft!
Glad you like the poem too my friend!

  • Clive

    Clive

Great capture on the tree/s David. The poem is very moving, especially as it was written in memory of you mother, my mother passed away 3 years ago, and she told me a very similar thing, thank you my friend

  • David Roman replied

Life is a big mystery isn’t it Clive.
Love ones can be gone for more than half our lives and still they come to us as if it was just yesterday we last saw them. Makes me more in tune with me and my feeling and love for them.
Glad you like the poem my friend and flower too!

  • Judi Taylor

    Judi Taylor

Oh, I thought once that maybe she had passed on … but that was too sad. But now that I think about it … it is so romantic … He will love her forever and never lose those memories. I hope he sees and feels her soul in this place … the place of the soft redwoods.

Never been to California… only ever saw pictures of redwood trees. However, I have dreamt about many things such as these. By the way, Fred has not been around lately … I think he ran off with the mustang. Hmmmm.

  • David Roman replied

humm maybe hes over at that woman who speaks to Flowers? Humm could be?

    Shanina Conway

What an amazing tree David, it looks like it has a coat of lacquer…fantastic and your words are as arresting and insightful as always;)

  • David Roman replied

Thank you Ms Shanina, Your right it does but it was soft really soft like dried out shredded wood then pasted back on the tree. Light and fine as you touched it and on the ground was fine wood that had fallen off it.
Nice to touch and spongy .
Thanks for you kind comments my friend.

  • David Roman replied

Hey Janeymac that tree was really a sight they had another place with a few trees but I didn’t shoot it silly me and then I saw this spot and it was magical.
I really didn’t expect this in a zoo but maybe one day this might be the place we go to see what the earth was like besides the movies!
But I am really happy you like this. Thanks

  • Ken Boxsell

    Ken Boxsell

Awesome work David. I love the HDR effect.
Hey I do have a question for ya:
Why are there handles on a mac.
Answer: Easier to pick up and place in the trash
(Just kidding mate) They certainly do have the edge on grafics

  • David Roman replied

LOL you PC users!LMAo we will get you one day too!
As for HDR have never done that don’t even know where to start.I don’t do special effects on my shots too lazy to learn the technique old school thats me!
I like to see and show what I saw if not I don’t post it!
Dont get me wrong I think some of that HDR stuff is really cool but too much time and too much technique can distroy the shot and thats the story not the technique.
But thats my opinion and you knwo what the say about them? LOL their like well you know the rest everyone has one.
Glad you liked the shot Ken but that was the color of that tree.

  • eXposure

    eXposure

such extreme emotions filled with love and joy and sorrow.
beautiful words and image David! faved also

  • David Roman replied

Thank you eX thats really cool of you glad you like it.

  • Ken Boxsell

    Ken Boxsell

Thats cool David I aim for the same….........That is some spectacular colour

  • David Roman replied

Thats what I thought when I walked up to that place. Like wow look at this !
But it seems they have a gardner who takes care of that really well she was doing her thing as I was sitting and dreaming. As for that tree I seen them when I lived in San Francisco they have a lot of them there same color and even redder depending on the time of year and how hot it is so the bark dry’s out to a bright shiny red brown. Or a deeper color when moist.

  • David Roman replied

Sometimes for me a poems a nagging girlfriend. Until it gets what it wants it never shuts up! Sorry to say this but its there knocking on my skull saying do you hear me? Hello do you hear me?? An you know what it doesn’t shut up until I start to put it together. And then Its gone like a breath of fresh air and a new breath comes in with its needs. Its very strange at times to have this inside of you and realize that it has its needs too!
Anyway Miss B just thought I would add that for you too so you get what I meant by kicking it out!

A beautiful image here David – but it is your poem that is so very outstanding to me. It is almost a tremendous longing to see again (if just one more time) the ones we have loved with all our hearts – and have lost, one last chance to hold them in our arms and tell them just once again how much we love them. But in reality what we do have are beautiful unforgetable memories, sometimes tears and a promise given that with undoubting faith, we will meet again. God bless you my friend.

    Fantastic imagery…

“One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don’t know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn’t matter.”-Lewis Carroll
