For those of you that know me or have at least read the About page on my website or profile here on Redbubble, you will know I have been sick for almost 3 years now. As in sick, unable to work, dropped out of uni, rarely leave the house sick. Most days these photos are the only semi productive thing I do. For the last 2 years I have been told I had Chronic fatigue, (CFS, ME etc) which does not have any reliable treatment or indication on when or if you will get better.

Two days ago I received some tests back that I had a month or so ago. Turns out I have Lyme’s Disease. This is very common in America, if it is treated quickly it is quite easy to cure. In Australia however it is not routinely tested for so it seems I have had been misdiagnosed for the past 3 years.

This is still great news though as at least there are some treatments I can start, it just means that the success of the treatment is not as well known when it turns into a chronic disease as the bacteria can go everywhere in your body. I will know some more in the next few days with some more Dr’s appointments but for now it is good to have some hope of recovery for a change!

Oh, and in case todays photo is causing any confusion, Lyme’s disease is spread by ticks…
This image is part of my personal photo per day project.

The aim is to take 1 photo a day and publish it on 2012inphotos.com.au

This would be a huge undertaking for most people, but even more so for me. For the last 2 years I have suffered from chronic fatigue (cfs, me, cfids, etc) and while I am far better than I have been, some days I know I won’t be able to get out of bed, many more I won’t leave the apartment

I hope this will assist in my recovery by forcing me out on days when I can manage it, and keeping me creative on days that I can

Your eyes are not yet convinced its good news, you look uncertain in this portrait – as anyone in your shoes would I imagine. Interesting image.

I hope all future news is good concerning your prognosis :-)

  • Thanks Sophia, Perhaps a little uncertain, it has been a long road and I am feeling wary…
Thank you for the the kind wishes.
