Artist's Description

Coal Loader Waverton.
Seeing as it is now December and this project only has a few weeks left, some of you may be wondering what I will be up to next year.

A few months back I applied for an Artist in Residence position at the Coal loader, run by North Sydney Council. I have been accepted into that and will start in January for a 10 month stint. While it is unpaid, they provide me with a studio/workshop in the historic coal loader site where I will make my work, and in return I will run a few workshops for the residents of North Sydney on night photograhy and the like. It is a very exciting opportunity for me and should provide me with more exposure. It is a beautiful site at Balls Head surrounded by bush and water. The coal loader itself is now a centre for sustainabilty, and its architecture has won awards for adaptive re-use. I will update my sites closer to the dates with more info but thought it was about time I made that announcement!

We went there this afternoon to have another look around, have a look at my workshop and see the site again. These tunnels were used to load coal into carriages to be loaded onto ships.

This image is part of my personal photo per day project.

Update: Unfortunately due to my health and Lyme Disease I have pulled out of the Artist in Residence position. It may be something I will regret in the future but for now I am confident it was the right thing to do.
