I miss winter.
I have been finding these days much too hot to shoot during the day, When I have gone out in the afternoon I seem to overheat and then can’t cool down again. Fun.

More than that though I have been finding the last few weeks there has been a lot more mist and salt spray in the air when I go out to shoot at night. This really softens the image and reduces contrast and detail in a big way. It also amplifies the Light pollution from the street lights as the light keeps bouncing around. I guess this is all from the higher humidity and air temperatures as well as water temperatures.

I went out this evening to south curl curl and could not get any good images at all. I also got covered in salt.
I eventually went up to north curl curl instead which is at least darker so not as much problem with the contrast. I looked up at the few stars at one point and instead of crisp clear points of light they were a blur. It also was not getting as many waves which helps as well.

So apart from moving to the swiss alps I think I will have to start paying much more attention to the temperature, humidity, swell and direction when planing my photos for each day.

Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy going out, It is just interesting to observe the difference.

This image is part of my personal photo per day project.

The aim is to take 1 photo a day and publish it on

This would be a huge undertaking for most people, but even more so for me. For the last 2 years I have suffered from chronic fatigue (cfs, me, cfids, etc) and while I am far better than I have been, some days I know I won’t be able to get out of bed, many more I won’t leave the apartment

I hope this will assist in my recovery by forcing me out on days when I can manage it, and keeping me creative on days that I can
