I went up to Curl Curl again today, mainly because it was a nice sunny day and I was in the mood to play around with a pinhole lens I put together on the weekend. The Previous image was shot using a proper lens, this image is shot with the pinhole. Pinhole lenses use the same principle as a camera obscura, they are literally a very small hole in a piece of metal placed in front of the camera. Pinholes predate lenses in the history of photography by a very long time, so this is where it all began. While it is nowhere as sharp as the image taken with the lens, I am amazed at the quality you can get using materials scavenged from the recycling bin as opposed to a many hundreds of dollars lens.
I am sure that with a few experiments and adjustments I can make a sharper image, but for now it is a bit of fun anyway!
Due to the nature of this image, I don’t think it would print very well at larger sizes.
This image is part of my personal photo per day project.
