These lanterns were stretched across a main street outside the Chinatown MRT station in Singapore, during the mid-autumn festival in September 2012.
I walked up and down the street for about half an hour, trying to find the best angle, not just to capture the sea of lanterns, but also the street context.
Then it slowly dawned on me. About 100 metres away was a path to a pedestrian walkway over the busy road. Finding my way there would enable me to shoot DOWNWARDS over the lanterns and the street, to put the shot in proper perspective.
The lanterns were up as part of the Chinatown mid-autumn celebrations.
