We were on an open-air bus tour of New York City when we drove past the Pierre, a Taj Group hotel. 625 views on 3 July 2011.
It was late June (2010) and a bright, sunny morning, so when a vehicle came up on our left, I immediately leaned over the edge of the bus and shot a frame of the hotel’s facade and the fluttering Stars and Stripes reflected in its hood, transforming an everyday sight into an abstract.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F5.6, 1/1250 sec, ISO 400, focal length 108mm.

Thank you for the favourite, for the kind words, and the feature, Colin. It was an instinctive shot and I had to be very quick because the traffic was moving!
What a great find! Through all the wiggles the subject is completely clear to me.
Wonderful to see this comment, Betty. My first shot was the roof of the vehicle, then I realised if I was REALLY quick, I’d be able to get an even better shot on its hood.

Thank you for the great honour, Elizabeth. And thank you, too, for the very kind words.

Fantastic reflection you captured…..looks wonderful David !
Many thanks, Sean. I only had time for two frames. One was the vehicle’s roof, then I shot this one very quickly.

It reflects well on us all… as Americans. I wish our actions did too. A great glimpse of mind and eye here.
Thanks for the visit and comment, Russell. Lucky the light was good enough for me to achieve this shot.
