When I took this shot, not only could I discern the heat of the explosion, I could even feel the faint tremor underfoot.
No, I wasn’t in any danger. This was shot during a night bombing display at the 2011 Australian International Air Show at Avalon Airport on the night of Friday 4 March. The thing with photographing a display like this is that you have no idea where precisely the explosion is going to occur.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F4, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, focal length 120mm.
