Lady Chatterley's Lava by David McMahon

To take this shot of lava lamps on sale at the gift shop at Scienceworks Museum, I had to lean over like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

It was much more interesting – and MUCH more challenging to try and shoot them from side-on instead of a regulation front-on shot.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F5.6, 1/45 sec, ISO 800, focal length 125mm.

OMG! Shades of the 70’s! Cool shot.

  • Thanks so much, Leslie. The reason I was almost over-balancing is that I wanted to use the dark interior of the shop as a foil for the glow of the lava!

Oh wow Brilliant Capture, very very well done :)

  • Thank you, Shannon, I literally had to contort myself like the Hunchback of Notre Dame to get this angle!
