Christmas At The White House, Er, White Hotel

David McMahon

Melbourne, Australia

Artist's Description

Not, it’s not the white house, but it IS the most famous white building in Singapore – the Raffles Hotel, named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of the island-state.

From memory, that huge red bow would have definitely been almost four meters long – and I’d love to know how much it weighed.

What was really interesting to me, when I shot this image in December 2007, was the juxtaposition of traditional Christmas decorations and of course the tropical frangipani tree in the foreground!

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/350 sec, ISO 200, focal length 88mm.

Featured in POSTCARDS AND DESTINATIONS, December 2010.

Featured in CITY LIFE IS THE ONLY LIFE, December 2010.

Featured in FRIENDS OF BANGOR AND NORTH DOWN CAMERA CLUB, December 2010.
