This was shot as I explored a creek in south-est Melbourne. The colours suddenly appeared in the sky – and as I walked beside the creek bed, I “saw” this chance to frame the sky with the tall gums and eucalypts that surrounded me.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F6.7, 1/45 sec, ISO 400, focal length 45mm.
Thank you, Evelyn and thank you, too, for the favourite. It was a scorching hot day that turned around quickly into blustery wind and drizzle – followed by this brief flare of colour.
A wonderful capture David, great framing and colour, well done
Many thanks, Clive. I have about a dozen shots in this sequence, all but two showing the colour of the creek and the vivid sky – the I thought of this idea, framing the sky with the trees.
Amazing shot and beautiful framing as others have said!
Thank you, Lynn. If the creek bank had been higher, I could have used the beautiful shapes of those arced leaves as a contrast with the orange. (Or if I had a ladder!!)

WOW is right…fantastic David!!
Thank you so much, Gail – we were at a wedding and I just thought I could see a bit of colour in the sky. A few minutes later, it was all gone.

Beautiful shot David! I love the colours.
Many thanks, Jordan. Funny how a grey evening suddenly produced these fiery colours, ever so briefly.

Many thanks, David. Lucky there were tall trees around me – but I almost fell into the creek at one point!
