Solve This Puzzle: What Is This Mystery Object? by

Any ideas?

Solved by Spencer Copping and CapturedbyKylie, who worked out a) that it was a bench and b) the reflection show the armrests/ dividers on the bench.

This was shot on a hot, humid morning in Singapore’s Orchard Road three years ago.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, focal length 125mm.

Handles/Steps of some description!! Out of doors.
    Cheers neil

  • Not steps, Neil. They are not exactly handles in the conventional sense, though.

This looks like it could be a bench?

  • Yes, Spencer, it is indeed a bench – shot in Singapore. The reflection caught my attention!

from the thumbnail i thought it was the gates at the entrance to a supermarket, but i know that’s definately incorrect.

is it armrests on a park bench? i know they put those arm rests on Sydney’s ones now as it supposedly stops the homeless from sleeping on them (so i was told).

  • Yup, side or armrests on a bench in Singapore, Kylie. Interesting info about Sydney – I didn’t know that.

Could it be a seat at a train station?

wonderful capture, I would never have guessed a bench, LOL!

  • If I’d shot it from a foot further back, you would have picked it immediately, Sandra!

I thought it looked like a bench I had seen before in my life… looked at the answers and indeed I have most probably SAT on that bench needing some water :-)

Great capture and congratulations on your feature! :-D

  • I knew you have spent time in Singapore before and because this was shot on Orchard Rd, I wondered whether you would solve it triumphantly and say you have a similar image of the same bench!
