It was our first evening in Manhattan and we were in a hurry, on our way to take in a Broadway play. Our cab stopped at a set of lights and I happened to notice this person dressed as the Statue of Liberty – to the delight of the tourists milling around on the warm summer evening.
If you look really carefully, you’ll see the spikes of what I think is a spare crown in the lower right of this frame.
I shot this through the window of the taxi. I barely had time to shoot three frames, very rapidly, before the lights changed.
It was a few minutes before 7pm, so the light was not great – but I wasn’t going to pass up the chance of a shot.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my work in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/90 sec, ISO 400, focal length 125mm
