Solved in about 90 minutes by Melbourne-based Red Bubbler JFPictures, who correctly identified it as a cut-away section of a guitar. This was shot while it was displayed on a wall in a New York store, with the permission of the staff.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F5.6, 1/6 sec, ISO 800, focal length 88mm.
