The way the light falls on the keys might suggest that this is a painting – but it is a real, functioning piano. When you look on the left of the frame, towards the locks, you can see it really is a three-dimensional object, not just a two-dimensional rendering on paper.
This was shot in Times Square, New York, in late June last year (2010).
When we visited Manhattan, these pianos were dotted all around – and anyone could play them, irrespective of how musical (or not) they were!
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/125 sec, ISO 400, focal length 108mm.
