This display of pashminas for sale stopped me in my tracks in the Little Italy precinct of New York … but can you spot the odd one out?
What really caught my eye here was not just the colours, but the fact that they had been knotted on a horizontal display pole, with the beautiful fabric displayed in all its glory. It was late in the evening, so the light wasn’t good enough for a close-up view …..
In commerce, creativity is everything – or it should be. I saw a few other street vendors in New York selling pashminas, but this was by far the most creative display of the famous fabric. The “rope-like” overall effect almost evokes Lawrence of Arabia – or Lawrence of Suburbia, as the case may be!
