I shot this yesterday (2 July 2010) in Central Park, New York. It was a warm summer evening with only a whisper of a breeze and we were walking past a lake on our way to Strawberry Fields, the John Lennon memorial, when I just happened to turn around and see this. (2,768 views on 9 July 2014.)

I had to find the right angle for this shot, to frame the reflection so that the foliage as depicted on the surface of the water formed a dark frame for the skyscraper, the clear blue sky and the wisps of white cloud.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, focal length 45mm.

    I needed a giggle♥

  • That’s so kind of you, Linda. I hoped that the breeze would pick up a fair bit, to create some more ripples, but it was so very still that I just did the best I could!

Fantastic! Instant favourite…. :-) Stumbled across the strawberry fields thing before, didn’t even know it was there back then…. but the January weather, while surprisingly mild (no jumper needed with the coat or vice versa) was very grey… looks like you’re having amazing weather there!!

  • My first trip to NYC, Ellis, and I’m having a blast here with very close friends. Weather was very hot when we arrived on 23 June, but the past four days have been slightly cooler.

Very cleverly done, David; wonderful reflections.

  • G’day Bev …. yes, the fact that I’m still awake at 1am tells you just how much I’m enjoying NYC. My first visit to this vibrant city and I’m so delighted that you like this reflection shot.
