High And Mighty by David McMahon

High And Mighty by

We were standing at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street in New York City this afternoon (30th June) when I “saw” the opportunity to photograph one of the city’s landmarks – through a set of street lights!

Yes, if you said it’s the world-famous Chrysler Building, you’re absolutely right. A classic example of Art Deco architecture, it was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. This was shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F9.5, 1/500 sec, ISO 200, focal length 125mm.

Really nice take, well spotted (I mean this view, as the building I imagine is hard to miss :-))

  • Thank you, Themis. Had just taken a couple of shots as I walked towards the street crossing, then this notion just occurred!

Always liked that building – it is Art Deco. Great shot

  • Thank you, Shulie. It seems to be different hues at different times of the day.
