Solve This Puzzle: What Is This Mystery Object? by

Put on your thinking caps, have as many guesses as you want – but most of all, have fun. Your time starts … NOW!

Spoiler alert: do not read any further, unless you want the answer.

First part of the question: solved by This Girl, who correctly answered it is the radar on the conning tower of a submarine.

Second part of the question: which high-rating TV series had a character called Radar? Solved by Ranald, who correctly answered M.A.S.H.

Third part of the question: This submarine is actually the symbol of a LANDLOCKED Outback town in New South Wales, on the Hume Highway between Melbourne and Sydney. What is the name of the town? (And yes, Google is permitted!) Solved by Jen Wahl, who correctly answered “Holbrook”, named after Commander Norman Holbrook, a World War I submarine captain.

Fourth part of the question: Which Sesame Street character is called Radar? Solved by Jen Wahl, who correctly answered that Radar is Big Bird’s teddy bear!

NEW TWIST TO THE CONTEST: As Jen Wahl solved the last question, she gets to ask this one. And the question is (drum roll, please, maestro) – WHO IS JEN’S PERSONAL FAVOURITE CHARACTER ON SESAME STREET? Solved by Ranald, who correctly answered Mister Snuffleupagus.

And Ranald now gets to ask the next question which is …. Where in Scotland would you find the Dardanelles? I can’t give myself the prize, because it took me so long after working out it was a “narrow cobbled street” but here is the visual answer to Ranald’s great question.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/350 sec, ISO 200, focal length 125mm.
