It was late in the evening when I spotted these three lamps in a Sydney shopping centre.

I had to work hard to find the right angle, in order to highlight the design of concentric circles against the only area of dark background that was available. Even then, the blue neon exterior sign from a nearby store can still be seen on the left.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/180 sec, ISO 800, focal length 125mm.

Greetings David; I spotted this on the Image Feed, I knew it was your work before I looked. Wonderful capture, a beautiful abstract of modernism!

What an amazing eye you have! I’m trying to “see” better these days, too.

  • Thank you, Leslie. Maybe it’s just that I’m curious and that I look all around ….

BRILLIANT grab David. Who needs a computer ? Reality doesnt need Virtual Software

  • Thanks so much, Mando. The thing that really drew me into this depiction was the darker edges around each lamp, like a dark fringe….

Wonderful capture David!!! I love the geometry of these lamps!

  • Thank you so much, Cee – the funny thing is, we were in a hurry, so I barely broke stride to take this and another (vertical) frame!

Love this, David! it’s really fantastic with the lines and light. Great dof too.

  • Thanks, Jen. I knew you would approve of the DoF, but I also figured you’d like the darker fringes around each lamp’s extremities.

A lovely powerful shot, the blue sign melds into the background and is not noticeable that much at all

  • Thanks so much, Kalaryder – I had to work so hard to frame the shot without extraneous objects!
