From Lumberjack To Slumber, Jack by

This little boy was with his parents at a cafe at The Rocks in Sydney, literally in the shadow of the famous Harbour Bridge.

It was the Easter weekend, and he had simply fallen asleep, with his right arm resting on the arm of his chair, to cushion his head. I walked past the table, did a double-take and asked his parents for permission to shoot three or four quick frames.

This is the tightest frame of them all, and the only one that does not include the table or the glasses or his surroundings. But I guess I like it because it shows his blissful slumber, amid the hubbub around him.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/125 sec, ISO 800, focal length 125mm.

Oh, to be able to sleep like that again!! Great catch, well done – don’t the parents want a copy? :-) Then again, they see this every day

  • Thank you, Themis, I wish I had taken their phone number or given them mine, but I did show them the images on my LCD screen. Maybe someone will see this, and know who the parents are….

David: a tender touch~ ;0) Gloria (perfect lighting & personality captured.)

  • Thank you, Gloria – the light was natural (it was late afternoon). Glad you like the shot.

Love, love, love this…you are so incredible. Perfect human interest shot! I am always amazed not only by your skill as a photographer but also by your ability to see every day events with the eye of an artist! You just use film instead of canvas!

  • Thank you, Janine – but the real credit goes to the little boy’s parents, who trusted me to take the shot and readily agreed when I asked their permission.
