I waited several minutes for the right scenario to enable me to take this shot, while I was in Kuala Lumpur in January this year.
I noticed the cherry trees (on the far side of the busy Bukit Bintang thoroughfare) reflected in the mirror of this stationery scooter. But the more I looked at the mirror, the more I noticed that each time a van went past, it looked as if it actually had a cherry tree on its roof.
The perception didn’t work with the normal sedans, of course, because their roof line was much lower. So I waited … and waited … and waited. I needed two vans, almost side by side, for this shot to work perfectly.
This was an exercise in patience, just as much as it was an exercise in creativity!
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/180 sec, ISO 400, focal length 125mm.

This shot is multi-layered! And demonstrates more of the versatility and creativity of the incredible photographer that you are! Love this…so fun…not only did you capture the illusion of the cherry trees growing out of the car roofs, but you caught it all through a mirror image! Simply terrific!
Thank you, Janine. I’m so glad you think this concept worked. Thank you for your inspirational words.

I like the colors! Such a different photo, but it’s so neat!!!
Thank you, VMKgirl. I’m delighted that you see this as a ``different’’ photo. That is truly a great compliment.

Wonderful David! I was just chatting to a guy yesterday about photography in the city and how many of us just walk past or just don’t observe what is around us and miss excellent opportunities like this one.
Many thanks, Jordan. I guess it’s just about paying close attention to the little details. We all “see” the same sights, but what really registers in our brains depends so greatly on how we actually perceive them ….
