Spoiler alert: do not read any further, unless you want the answer. This was solved in just 50 minutes! Many Red Bubblers told me these visual puzzles were too easy when I first introduced them – but it now seems no matter how difficult or obscure the challenge is, it seldom takes even an hour for the solution to surface. Just 50 minutes for this puzzle is amazing!
First part of the puzzle: solved by first-time sleuth PBWright, all the way from Richmond in the USA, who correctly answered that it is the GPO in Calcutta, or Kolkata as it is now known?
Second part of the puzzle: what is the connection to French author Dominique Lapierre? Also solved by PBWright, who correctly answered that Dominique Lapierre wrote the bestselling novel “City of Joy” about Calcutta and of course the novel was turned into a film of the same name.
Third part of the puzzle: What was the name of the 2006 bestselling novel written by a Red Bubble member that included several chapters based around actual locations in Calcutta? A clean sweep by PBWright, who answered that the novel was called Vegemite Vindaloo and was written by this Red Bubble member.
