This huge wooden figure of a skier was on a float at the recent Moomba parade here in Melbourne.
I waited until the float was right in line with the palm trees that fringe the Alexandra Gardens before hitting the trigger. Even though the eye and brain immediately discern the fact that it’s not a real skier, the incongruity of the composition was well worth the wait.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F6.7, 1/500 sec, ISO 200, focal length 133mm.

fascinating image.
Thank you, Gerrard. I waited for the float to make its way across the bridge, before hitting the trigger as soon as the trees were in the background!
