Solve This Puzzle: What Is This Mystery Object? by

Put on your thinking caps, but most of all, have fun! You can have as many guesses as you want.

Your time starts …. NOW!

Spoiler alert: do not read any further unless you want the answer revealed.

Solved by Linda Bianic, who becomes the first person ever to solve three of these visual puzzles in a row. The object in the photograph is the hard plastic case that holds one or more cymbals of varying circumference. The bolt goes through the centre of the cymbals and holds them securely in place.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F5.6, 1/10 sec, ISO 800, focal length 88mm.

    Air filter on car engine.

  • Great first try, Woodie, but not this time, sir. The similarity with an air filter struck me as soon as I saw it …

    Spare wheel cover in boot!

  • I showed it to a colleague before posting it – and that was exactly the answer I got! No, not a spare wheel cover ….

One last guess, is it on a lawn mower?

  • No, sir. D’you remember the “lawn mower” that Fred Flintstone used? That was hilarious ….

I remember the garbage disposal though!!

  • Yes, that’s right. The whole premise behind the show was a reverse-Jetsons theme, from memory – humour in the age of dinosaurs!

Didn’t the Flintstones come first and the Jetson developed from that. I’ll google it.

Geez, this looks so familiar….if not a car, some other household appliance??

  • Household appliance? Now I have to refer to the international judging panel for that one, in case it’s too broad a category. …. the panel says, after much deliberation, that it will accept that answer, but the answer is wrong.
