Solve This Puzzle: What Is This Mystery Object? by

Put on your thinking caps – and most of all have fun! You can have as many guesses as you want.

Spoiler alert: Do not read any further unless you want both parts of the answer. Diana Saville nailed the first part instantly, correctly identifying the mystery object as a bonnet catch (or hood catch, in many parts of the world). For a first-up answer, I’m sure you’ll agree it was an absolutely BRILLIANT deduction. Applause for Di ….

And last week’s reigning champion (she solved the USB fan puzzle) Ellis Morley Photography correctly identified the car as a Rolls-Royce. It is, in fact, a Rolls-Royce Phantom and you can see some more of my images at Phantom Menace on my blog.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F5.6, 145 sec, ISO 800, focal length 88mm.

darn I was going to say catch on a door or suitcase lol

  • I thought it would take a long time to nail down ``bonnet catch’’ but Di was onto it in a flash. What a genius …

    Looks like a japanese car…

  • That’s a very broad guess, Ellis. And as the reigning champion, you are leading the charge to the finish line. But would you like to specify a particular brand? (Making up quizmaster rules as I go along ….!)

(because it looks like a japanese character, hehe, i’m really stretching it)

  • You’re so right – it really does like an Asian written character. How positively brilliant of you to notice that.

I’d never have got that without Di’s nudge btw as I do not drive so would have had no idea ever :-P

  • Yup, Di was at the front of the cavalry charge.

  • That’s music to my ears. No, not a Holden.

You know when my mechanic partner gets out of bed He’ll tell me what model it is anyway…lol

  • It could even be a tractor hood, you know …. or a boat engine! I’m not saying it is, I’m just saying it could be!
