Last night, it looked as if some unseen painter had dropped the contents of several paint cans over the horizon.
In the space of about two minutes, I shot some images with the street silhouettes in sharp focus and the clouds in soft focus, but this image was shot in reverse, with the clouds as the main subject and the silhouettes (especially that street lamp) used merely as an adjunct to Nature.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F5.6, 1/250 sec, ISO 800, focal length 300mm.
Thanks, Cheryl. I literally parked the car, grabbed the camera and the colours went from orange and red to yellow and purple in about two minutes before disappearing entirely!

Well done David….Fantastic capture…
Thanks very much, John – just wondering if you were outdoors last night. If you were, this is the sky you would have seen!

Pretty awesome colour there David. This light pole gives the sunset some perspective..
Thanks very much, Wayne. I have some shots with the light pole in sharp focus., but the overall effect is better on this frame.
