Solve This Puzzle: Where Did I Shoot This Image? by

Put your thinking caps on! You can have as many guesses as you want …

Solved by Bevellee, who correctly said it was shot on Princes Bridge here in Melbourne.

I’d never seen anything like the man’s outfit, except in “Arabian Nights” picture books when I was a kid, so when I saw this couple walking towards me, I knew I had to take a shot, even though I was on the opposite footpath several metres away.

Were they the parents of the infant, or the grandparents? I didn’t have a chance to find out. But I was entranced by the gentleman’s wonderful expression – and I thought it would be great if I could somehow protect the lady’s identity. As soon as she turned towards him, I hit the shutter, knowing her features would be hidden by the angle as well as by her headgear.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F8, 1/250 sec, ISO 400, focal length 300mm.

I’ve never been out of the country (well, unless Mexico counts)… so I have no idea. I’ve never even seen clothing like that… who is sheltered?? lol

  • Jen, I was struck with awe at the man’s costume, in particular. I’d never seen anything like it, except in books when I was little …..

It looks like something I might see in an Aladdin book :) I think I have seen something like that on movies I watched as a child… so maybe Arabia?

  • Aladdin was exactly what came to mind when I saw the man a great distance away, Jen. But no, not Arabia, although it could have been straight out of an “Arabian Nights” story ….

Just re-read the comments too… awesome that you respected the fact that the woman should not be on display :-D

  • Just one of those things … I was extremely lucky she turned away.
