This vividly-painted car, a promotional vehicle for Melbourne FM radio station Nova 100, was parked at Federation Square during an event late last week.

I shot this several minutes after dusk, in tricky light on an evening when there was thick cloud. In retrospect, the weather actually helped me in my quest to capture these colours without any saturation across the frame.

Driving time to Max Yasgur’s farm? Not sure, but you can start your stopwatches now ….

We’ll probably get there before the Peace Train!

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F6.7, 1/90 sec, ISO 400, focal length 120mm.

I FIND VIOLETS+PURPLES very difficult to capture satisfactorily. I used to have a very accurate De Vere color checker that could be inserted in one shot to use as a comparison later. But it ran off with another photographer 25 years ago and I never got it back . So I really Dig what you captured here.Love the Title and its a great Ozzie Icon subject also

  • Thanks, Mando – red’s a tough one for saturation too. Hope your De Vere checker comes back one day!

I remember Woodstock, I was a kid , about 11 and I recall my mother’s horror and condemnation of this , fantastic event .. :))

  • Interesting, too, in retrospect, to see some of the bands that didn’t play and then regretted it!

yes that’s so true …I had 4 older brothers so there was always music and a lot of their groups didn’t play

  • From what I’ve read, The Doors didn’t play – although the drummer can be seen in the film!
