Artist's Description

At Bondi Beach in Sydney, this section of striking artwork surrounds a metal grille and doorway recessed into a concrete wall. I was really interested in the expressions on the faces of the two painted sprites that seem to be guarding the doorway.
The colour-coded lids of the two garbage bins gave me segments of extraneous colours to throw some perspective into the overall mix. They also serve another purpose, drawing the eye of the observer towards the railing and the person walking up the stairs to the car park.

I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F9.5, 1/350 sec, ISO 200, focal length 58mm.

Featured in 60’s GLORY, September 2009.
