Glittering Sunrise Across A Muskoka Lakeby David McMahon
What better place to capture a Canadian sunrise than Canoe Lake, Muskoka, in northern Ontario? I shot this in September 2005, after setting out for the town of Huntsville at about 3.30 in the morning.
I did the long drive simply because I wanted to shoot sunrise at Algonquin Provincial Park, which comprises more than 76,000 hectares of forests, lakes, and rivers.
Muskoka inspired me in many ways. Not least because it features prominently in my novel Muskoka Maharani, released by Penguin in March this year (2010).
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. This was shot on film, using a Canon EOS 3000.

Thanks so much, Cheryl. I grew up around water, so it’s not surprising that I am drawn to it all round the world!

Thank you, Colin. I stopped several time along the way, shooting creeks, waterways, flaming colours in the sky. It was a morning to remember!
