Darth Fader by David McMahon

Does this shadow remind you of one of the great film villains?

Does it resemble Darth Vader? I shot this image a few hours ago, from a Melbourne office building.

The window I was shooting through had horizontal blinds and rather than lift the blinds, I opted to use them as a graded motif.

This is the last week before winter here in Australia (22 May 2009) and this strong light quality is highly unusual at this time of year, when the sunlight is more mellow.

The angle of the sun would only produce this image for a few days each year – and not all those days would have sunlight of this quality. Just a lucky shot, I guess.

I do not crop or post-edit my images in any way.

This was shot with a Pentax K100D, using an 18-125mm lens. Shot at F8, 1/350 sec, ISO 200 and focal length of 125mm on 22 May 2009.
