Solved by Vivek Bakshi on the third guess. This statue of Pope John Paul II was shot in the courtyard of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd in Singapore, in mid-December 2007.
The church is more than 160 years old. It was opened in 1846, at the height of the colonial era, and was officially gazetted as a monument on 28 June 1973.
I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/125 sec, ISO 800, focal length 125mm.

I really thought Midas had paid the Pope a visit :/

G’day Di – I thought someone would say ``Rome’’ surely, but I deliberately chose this frame so that the foliage and the high-rise building would be a clue ….

I could use him as a scarecrow in my veggie garden…:)) He looks better than the one I have now!
David McMahon replied 27 days ago
He’ll put the fear of God (literally) into the crows! Okay, I’ll email the church board to get ‘em to freight it to you today!

Ah, that’s e-detective work, but detective work nonetheless. It’s a great old church and the courtyard must have witnessed so many weddings over the 160 years!

I knew it was a pope, but I would never have thought of Singapore
David McMahon replied 27 days ago
I didn’t think anyone would answer it so quickly either!

I was actually surprised that the puzzle was solved so quickly. I thought everyone would guess European cities.
